Seven of Cups
One of my favorite cards, in both illustration and meanings. A painter is working on his masterpiece, with seven cups positioned as painting objects. However, the artist sketches a completely different figure on his canvas. He, who doesn’t see what is, but see what could be, would find deeper meaning in each subject he depicts. One figure, appears to be a woman, is carrying it with three (visible) hands. The artist is different from the rest of the Deviantmoonians, whose faces consisted of 2 halves, dark and bright respectively; this man has two peculiar noses and mouths, indicating that beside a fully-awared subconscious, he also has another personality. The one who captivates the reality is different from the one that reconstruct that reality into art. From what my persona sees, the Seven of Cups is all about human struggling between imagination and reality. To each his own choice, man chooses between the ‘de facto’ bright side and the ‘de picasso’ dark side. One inconvenient truth from the illustration is the hidden woman, I personally recognize her as a sufferer from the man’s devotion to his absolute art. People say behind every successful man, there is a woman; and here in front of a man who ignores reality his whole life, there is a woman supporting his work with three hands.
I’ve known of a few artists whose imaginations were superbly extraordinary,
included a particular one whom I admire and idolize. The thing they have in common is an isolated, misery life. The moment an artist withdrew himself out of reality, he became a liability and a pain to everything he’s accounted for. Family, friends, bandmates, colleagues, even a little fanboy like me.
I’ve ran out of words to state how living in an artistic world is subtle and fragile. But if one tries to do an act of art in his own definition of the very word, he’ll see that artistic creativity never fades, but whether it dooms or it blooms, all depends on the way we shape this world in our mind.
